The University of Amsterdam is with 22,000 students and a budget of 487 million euros one of the major comprehensive universities in Europe. It has a strong internationalization programme and offers a number of English language courses. There are seven faculties, covering humanities, social science, law, economics, medicine, dentistry and sciences.
The Office of International Relations oversees and co-ordinates various aspects of international academic relations. For international students, it co-ordinates various exchange programmes and takes care of matters such as registration and student ID cards. The Housing Department is part of the Office of International Relations, and helps to find and arrange accommodation for students and staff.
